The essential Steve Brodner
Force of nature. Steve Brodner.
More than ever in these tumultuous times we need Steve Brodner.
Steve Brodner keeps me on my toes. When I want to put up blinders or numb-out from a corrupt presidential race, or from one more mass shooting, or another vast global conspiracy, Steve will not let me forget. His work pulls me right back out of my shell and encourages me to stay vulnerable, to stay engaged in a way that can make a difference in this world.
When living in New York on the 1970s, 80s, 90s, with the great newsstands displaying copious magazines (The Village Voice, Time, Newsweek, The New Yorker, The Atlantic), Steve's work frequented their covers, and through them one was constantly informed to the goings on of the day.
Now, through his social media feeds, Steve posts an ever-present thread of reactions to what is going on in our world. He is always on top of—even inside and under—the news.
Steve's work does not aim to please (except through extraordinary draftsmanship) but instead to jolt the viewer into awareness.
He will not let us forget.
